Water and Sanitation Projects in African Countries
The Al-Najat Charity Association has provided services to approximately 2.5 million people by digging over 850 wells in 10 countries. Jaber Al-Onda, the director general of this association, stated that the projects are specifically designed for the poor, displaced persons, refugees, and residents of remote villages, particularly in Somalia, Chad, and Yemen. These projects are carried out in coordination with the ministries of social affairs and foreign affairs and the Kuwaiti embassies abroad.
He added that clean water helps maintain public health and prevents waterborne diseases, allowing families to reduce long trips to obtain water and providing children with better opportunities to continue their education. In some areas, communities have formed around the wells, and agricultural and livestock activities have flourished.
