On Monday (yesterday), Iran denied any connection to the suspicious bombing plot at the RAF Fairford airbase located in Britain. These statements were made by the Iranian embassy in London and came after extensive reports from British media about the potential Iranian connections to this security incident on Sunday.
Details of the Incident and Police Investigations
The British anti-terrorism police announced that five men in their mid-twenties, all British and residing in London, were arrested near the base. These men have been detained since Sunday on charges related to explosives and "preparation for a terrorist act" under British anti-terrorism laws. The anti-terrorism unit of the police is overseeing this investigation and is seeking more information about the motives and activities of these individuals.

Iran's Reaction and Previous Accusations
The Iranian embassy in London issued a statement strongly rejecting these accusations, deeming them an attempt to link Tehran to this unusual incident. Iranian officials had previously warned the British government in March not to allow British bases to be used for military operations against Iran. Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Foreign Minister, at that time pointed to the dangers of such actions and considered it a threat to the lives of British citizens.
Meanwhile, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace stated that this incident highlights the need for greater caution in assessing threats and emphasized the importance of local intelligence. According to him, a local farmer who observed three white vans moving towards the base contacted the police, and his action prevented a potential disaster.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump also commented on this matter, stating that British and American officials had been monitoring these individuals for a long time and it appears they intended to harm the base. He did not provide further details but told reporters that these individuals were under surveillance and more information about them would be released soon.
In this context, local officials have also reacted to the incident and called for a deeper security investigation. Local representative Rose Savage described the event as very close to a disaster and emphasized the importance of community vigilance regarding security threats.
According to reports, about 85 households from the village near the base were evacuated following this incident and were forced to stay in other locations. Currently, explosives experts are also working at the scene to clarify more details about this threat.
