Ali Karimi, the Islamic Republic of Iran's diplomat at the United Nations, responded to claims made by the Bahraini diplomat during a session of the Third Committee of this international body on Tuesday. He pointed out that while Bahrain speaks of human rights, it is oblivious to the realities behind the events, criticizing the positions of this country.
Criticism of Bahrain's Positions
Karimi emphasized: "Bahrain is not a victim" and added that this country has actually provided its territory, bases, and airspace for the illegal war against Iran to the United States. He stated that Bahrain, which has engaged in such actions, should not express surprise and astonishment at the consequences.
Emphasis on Iran's Right to Self-Defense
The representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Third Committee of the United Nations emphasized that Iran was not the initiator of the attack and has been attacked as a country, describing Tehran's reaction as "the exercise of inherent legitimate rights." Karimi warned Bahrain that if once again any territory of a country in the region is used to carry out an attack against Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond accordingly.
He also addressed the Bahraini representative, saying: "There are only two paths. Either we build security together in the region, or we will endure insecurity together." The Iranian diplomat stated that Bahrain had previously chosen the second path, and if it repeats that choice, it should not expect different outcomes.
