Ali Karimi Maqam, the representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations Third Committee, reacted on Monday to the statements made by Bahrain's representative, emphasizing Iran's inherent right to self-defense. He stated that Iran has the right to defend itself against enemy aggressions, and this right is recognized within the framework of international principles.
Emphasis on Common Security
The Iranian representative at this meeting pointed to the security situation in the region, saying: "There are only two paths. Either we build security together in the region or we will endure insecurity together." These statements reflect the Islamic Republic of Iran's determination for security cooperation with its neighbors and also emphasize the necessity of mutual respect in bilateral relations.

Bahrain's Role in Regional Developments
Ali Karimi continued: "Bahrain speaks of human rights while being blind to the underlying events." He pointed out that Bahrain presents itself as a victim, stating: "This country has provided territory, bases, and airspace for an illegal war against Iran by the United States." These statements clearly indicate Iran's concerns about Bahrain's role in regional developments and its impact on Iran's national security.
The diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran also noted that Bahrain cannot express surprise at the consequences of its actions. He said: "Bahrain, which has provided its territory for an illegal war against its neighbor to the United States, can no longer express surprise and astonishment at the consequences of that." These statements reflect Iran's serious criticisms of Bahrain's policies and its military cooperation with the United States.
Warning to Regional Countries
The Iranian representative at the UN's Third Committee also warned: "If once again any country's territory in the region is used to carry out an attack against Iran, we will respond." This warning clearly indicates Iran's serious determination to defend its sovereignty and respond to any aggressive actions. Given the existing tensions in the region, these statements can be interpreted as a strong signal to other countries regarding Iran's resolve to maintain its national security.
Finally, the diplomat of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized that Iran has not been the initiator of attacks and has always exercised its inherent right in response to aggressions. These positions clearly reflect Iran's defensive approach and its emphasis on international rights against external threats.
