The open session of the Islamic Consultative Assembly began today (Tuesday, November 5) and included various topics, including representatives' questions to the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance and the review of various proposals.

Review of Representatives' Questions to the Minister of Economy

In this session, the question from Mostafa Pourdehghan, representative of Ardakan, along with several other representatives, was raised to Madani Zadeh, the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance. The questions were regarding "the reason for the Minister of Economy avoiding responsibility for recent price hikes." The representatives discussed and examined the recent price increases and their impact on people's livelihoods.

Unsatisfactory Responses from the Minister and Voting

After the Minister of Economy provided explanations, Mostafa Pourdehghan announced that he was not satisfied with the explanations given and requested a vote on the question. After discussion and review, the representatives voted, with 106 in favor, 120 against, and 5 abstentions out of a total of 257 present representatives, declaring that they were not satisfied with the Minister of Economy's explanations and thus issued a yellow card to the Minister.

This action by the representatives indicates serious concerns regarding the country's economic situation and recent price hikes, which, according to the representatives, have a direct impact on people's lives. The representatives emphasized that they expect the Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance to be accountable and to take necessary actions to control the economic situation.

During the session, other work items, including the election of representative members and observers in assemblies and councils and the continued review of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission's report on the proposal to counter foreign infiltration, were also discussed. Additionally, a report from the Urban Development Commission regarding the agreement on maritime transport cooperation between the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Government of the Sultanate of Oman was presented.
