Said Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Oman's Foreign Minister, at the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, emphasized Oman's consistent approach to finding peaceful and consensual solutions to disputes. He stated that this approach is based on values and principles that help achieve common goals for ensuring security and stability for all and advancing economic development and the welfare of nations.

Dialogue as a Key Tool for Resolving Disputes

The Foreign Minister of Oman said in his speech: "Dialogue is the true value that can remind us of what we share in common and is also the best tool for overcoming disputes, building trust and mutual understanding, and resolving issues and crises." He continued that the Sultanate of Oman will continue its steadfast approach to finding peaceful solutions and emphasized that refraining from the use of force and interference in the internal affairs of countries can provide a suitable framework for regulating international relations.

Consequences of Escalating Tensions in the Region and Shipping Security

Al Busaidi also referred to the escalating tensions in the region and said: "Our region witnessed a war at the beginning of this year that could have been prevented. Subsequent events have shown that escalating tensions threaten the security of the countries in the region and disrupt shipping and trade through the vital Strait of Hormuz." Oman's Foreign Minister reiterated his enduring commitment to continue efforts to ensure the security of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and called on all parties to cooperate in these efforts.

He also renewed his solidarity with all neighboring countries, including the member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council, in actions taken legitimately to preserve their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He urged all relevant parties to resolve their remaining disputes through restraint, foresight, and dialogue.

Oman's Support for a Political Solution to the Yemen Crisis and Palestinian Rights

Oman's Foreign Minister further emphasized that the Omani government reiterates its support for finding a political solution to the Yemen crisis. He said: "This solution must preserve the unity, stability, and territorial integrity of Yemen and meet the demands of the Yemeni people across all its spectrum." Al Busaidi also condemned the attacks by Israel and emphasized the rights of the Palestinian people, stating this position is based on the borders of June 4, 1967, and relevant UN resolutions.

In conclusion, Al Busaidi referred to the "Muscat Initiative" to counter hate speech, stating that this initiative was launched on June 11 at the United Nations headquarters. He also announced that the city of Muscat will host a ceremony in November to mark the International Day for Tolerance.
