The United Arab Emirates, as one of the leading countries in the Gulf, has started producing low-cost interceptors to counter Iranian drones since July of this year. These interceptors, known as the "Guardian" anti-drone system, are produced in a small facility located in the UAE, aimed at protecting the skies of the country against aerial threats.
Development of Military Technologies in the Gulf
The facility, managed by a UAE contractor on behalf of "Powerus," produces about 30 units of this system daily and aims to increase this number to 100 units per day. The cost of each unit of this system is approximately $5,000. With the increasing threats from Iranian drone attacks, Gulf countries are increasingly seeking to produce and supply their own defensive systems.

American companies are currently responding to this demand by establishing production centers in the Gulf and have shifted to local production instead of exporting complete systems. Countries like Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are also developing similar programs, indicating profound changes in the defensive approach of this region.
New Challenges and Opportunities
Given the ongoing battles in Iran and the increase in drone attacks, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are striving for greater self-sufficiency in defense. Since February of this year, these countries have signed new agreements with American companies as well as other partners, including Ukraine. These collaborations aim to strengthen defensive capabilities and reduce dependence on foreign suppliers.
In the UAE, as a country that is heavily exposed to threats, the production of new systems is seen as an important solution for enhancing national security. These systems are specifically designed to counter drone attacks and, while they cannot intercept ballistic missiles, they are considered an effective option for protecting critical infrastructure and facilities.
Alongside these challenges, increased production and diversification of suppliers could strengthen the military-industrial relations of these countries with the United States and contribute to improving security and stability in the region.
