Liechtenstein will maintain its position as the richest economy in the world with a per capita GDP of about $226,000 in 2031. The per capita GDP of this country is estimated to be around $198,987 in 2026, indicating a 14% growth over the five-year period.
This small European country, despite its limited population, has an economy that relies on financial services, banking, specialized industries, high value-added product manufacturing, and international activities. Second Place for Singapore and Economic Growth in Ireland
Singapore will also achieve the second position in the world in 2031 with a 22% growth and a per capita GDP of about $215,234. This country, considered one of the most important financial and commercial centers in Asia, benefits from a strategic position in international trade, advanced port infrastructure, financial services, technology, and knowledge-based industries.
Singapore's second place indicates that small economies with advanced infrastructure, extensive international connections, and high value-added industries still have significant capacity to maintain their positions among the richest economies in the world.
Ireland is another European country that will rise in this ranking. The per capita GDP of this country will increase from about $149,642 in 2026 to $182,089 in 2031, equivalent to a 22% growth. With this performance, Ireland will surpass Luxembourg and secure the third position in the world.
Economic Growth of Qatar and Guyana
One of the most significant developments predicted in the 2031 ranking is the rise of economies rich in energy resources. Qatar and Guyana are two prominent examples of this trend, which will experience significant growth in per capita GDP due to the development of energy production and exports.
Qatar is expected to have the highest increase in per capita GDP among the 25 economies studied, with a projected growth of 64%. This index will rise from about $103,804 in 2026 to $170,374 in 2031. However, the country's position will not change from sixth place.
In this context, Guyana will also experience one of the fastest economic rises with a 43% growth in per capita GDP. The per capita index of this country will increase from about $98,912 in 2026 to $141,840 in 2031, solidifying its position from seventh place.
These developments indicate that countries rich in energy resources, especially those capable of developing production and export capacities, can achieve significant growth in a short period. Given the current situation and economic outlook, these countries can play a key role, particularly in investment and infrastructure development.
