The 48th Conference on Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) began on Wednesday under the patronage of the Minister of Health of Kuwait, Dr. Ahmed Abdulwahab Al-Awadi. This conference aims to bring together physicians, consultants, and specialists from Kuwait and other countries to examine the latest scientific developments and medical technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat-related diseases, as well as head and neck surgeries.

Platform for Medical Experience Exchange

Dr. Al-Mundhir Al-Hassawi, Deputy of the Public Health Sector, spoke on behalf of the Minister of Health at the opening ceremony and emphasized the importance of this conference as a platform for exchanging experiences and enhancing collaboration among medical personnel. He referred to the rapid advancements in this specialty in terms of diagnosis, treatment, and precise surgery, stating that estimates from the World Health Organization indicate that over 700 million people worldwide will require hearing rehabilitation services by 2050. This highlights the necessity for expanding early diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation.

Kuwait's Achievements in Medicine

Dr. Al-Hassawi highlighted several achievements of Kuwait in this field, including robotic surgery for tumors and head and neck conditions performed by Kuwaiti doctors at the ENT Specialty Center in Zain, as well as the first middle ear implant in the country and the wider use of hypoglossal nerve stimulation for the treatment of sleep apnea. He also mentioned the expansion of specialized services and new simulation and clinical training laboratories.

Dr. Al-Hassawi continued that the Ministry of Health is committed to developing specialized services, investing in the training of national staff, and employing advanced medical technologies to improve the quality of services and patient safety. He also thanked the founders of the conference, the ENT sector council, and the organizing committee.

This conference serves as a unique opportunity for physicians and specialists in the field of ear, nose, and throat to exchange information and experiences, addressing challenges and innovative solutions in this area. It is expected that this event will strengthen international collaborations in the medical field and enhance the quality of healthcare services in Kuwait and the region.
