Sultan Haitham bin Tarik will make an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan tomorrow, Monday. Ahead of this visit, necessary preparations are underway in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. The national flags of the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Kazakhstan have been raised along the main streets and at several locations near the Independence Palace.

Events and Bilateral Cooperation

This visit is seen as a new milestone in the bilateral relations of the two countries, which have lasted for over three decades, and has attracted the attention of Kazakh media. Kazakh media have examined various aspects of cooperation and interactions between the two friendly countries, emphasizing the need to utilize existing potentials for developing cooperation in various fields, especially economic and commercial.

In one of the published articles, the Kazakh news agency "Kazinform" referred to discussions aimed at exploring prospects for strengthening political dialogue and expanding trade, economic, investment, and cultural cooperation. Additionally, the participation of the leaders of the two countries in the meetings related to the "Kazakh-Oman Economic Forum" is also on the agenda.

Beginning a New Era of Cooperation

On the other hand, "Kazakhstan Today" reported under the title "The Sultan of Oman visits Kazakhstan for the first time" that this visit is considered the first official visit of the Sultanate of Oman to Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The discussions between the Sultan and the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the signing of several agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields will open new horizons for cooperation between the two friendly countries.

In this context, "Kazakhstan Today" addressed areas of cooperation such as transportation, logistics services, and the possibility of exporting Kazakh products, including wheat, through the Sultanate of Oman. Reports also emphasize that the Sultan of Oman plays a significant role as a transit hub and goods transfer point, facilitating Kazakhstan's access to international markets.

Channel 24KZ also published a report about the Sultan's visit to Kazakhstan and the opportunities to strengthen cooperation in political, commercial, economic, investment, and cultural fields. Kazakh media, including print, visual, audio, and electronic publications such as Korysio, Inforburo, Tengrinews, and Kazakhstan Pravda, have covered this royal visit, official discussions, and agreements and memorandums of understanding between the two countries.

Dmitry Papazov, a Kazakh strategic expert, stated in an interview with the Oman News Agency (ONA) that the relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Kazakhstan are moving towards turning some of the ideas proposed between the two governments into real actions and projects. He cited an example of this cooperation called Astrans.

He explained that "Asiad" purchased a share of this company in May 2025, which operates in the rail transport of grains and other agricultural products. Papazov noted that the Omani investor has not only purchased a share of a company but has also become part of the transport chain related to Kazakhstan's agricultural exports, which will bring many benefits to both parties.

He also added that Kazakhstan has products that are of great importance to the Sultanate of Oman, including agricultural and industrial products, as well as regular supplies of grains and flour and industrial products such as metals and pipes.

Papazov emphasized that the geographical position of the Sultanate of Oman is considered an important factor for Kazakhstan. He explained that Kazakhstan is a landlocked country in Central Asia with no direct access to the sea, while the Sultanate of Oman has large ports that are strategically located on key trade routes between the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean.

He added that logistics has become one of the main topics of discussion between the two countries, and both sides are exploring ways to utilize Oman's ports and transport infrastructure to help deliver Kazakh goods to more distant markets. Kazakhstan also views the Sultanate of Oman as a potential transit and loading center.
