The Sultanate of Oman will participate as the guest of honor at the 45th Sharjah International Book Fair 2026, which commenced its activities today in the Emirate of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This fair is recognized as one of the most important cultural events at the regional and international levels, and Oman's presence at it reflects the depth of historical and fraternal relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Commitment to Cultural Cooperation
Sayed Saud Hilal Al-Busaidi, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth of Oman, stated in his speech at the opening ceremony of the fair: "The selection of the Sultanate of Oman as the guest of honor this time symbolizes the depth of fraternal and historical relations with the United Arab Emirates and reflects the strength of cultural cooperation between the two countries." He emphasized the importance of participating in the Sharjah International Book Fair, which holds special prestige among book fairs in the region and the world, and added that this participation continues Oman's active presence in international cultural forums.

Oman Pavilion and Cultural Programs
At the fair, the Oman Pavilion includes 25 entities consisting of government institutions, civil society organizations, and private entities. Additionally, 17 Omani publishers are participating in this fair in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Sultan Qaboos University, the National Records and Archives Authority, the Omani Writers Association, the Cultural Club, the Oman Memorial Center, and the Bait Al Zubair Foundation.
The cultural program accompanying Oman's participation includes 28 diverse events that bring together a group of elites, researchers, and writers. These events include scientific and historical lectures, poetry and music nights, local arts, seminars, workshops, discussions, and dialogues on various literary and intellectual topics.
Oman's presence at the Sharjah International Book Fair 2026 not only helps promote Omani culture and arts but also provides new opportunities for cultural and literary exchange between Oman and other countries. This event serves as a suitable platform for introducing Omani cultural and literary works to global audiences and will play an important role in strengthening cultural and social relations between countries in the region.
