Joint Defense Agreement of Mecca
Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia announced in a joint statement that they will quickly take actions in line with the "Mecca Coalition for Defense." This agreement allows these countries to deploy their military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia. Turkish officials also expressed that the deployment of military forces to Saudi Arabia is aimed at supporting the country against security threats.
According to a senior Turkish official, the country will send several technical teams, air defense systems, and electronic warfare equipment to Saudi Arabia. It is also expected that after the approval of the Turkish parliament, a number of experienced pilots and aircraft will be sent to Saudi Arabia to counter the missile and drone threats from the Houthis.
Meeting of the Syrian President with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia
Meanwhile, Ahmad al-Shara, the President of Syria, also visited Saudi Arabia and met with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of the country. This meeting takes place amid increasing tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. Al-Shara is seeking support from Arab countries to revive the Syrian economy and invest in various sectors of the country.
In this context, the Houthis have also announced that they will continue to target Saudi facilities consistently. Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the group, reported the firing of missiles towards the "Abha" airport and warned international airlines that Saudi airspace has become the scene of their military operations. Thus, the situation in the region remains concerning, and the military cooperation between Turkey and Pakistan with Saudi Arabia could have profound implications for international relations and regional security.
