Turkey will soon send additional troops and defense equipment to Saudi Arabia to provide necessary support against the escalation of Houthi attacks on the country. Turkish officials announced that since last year, technical teams and air defense systems have been transferred to Saudi Arabia.

Transformation in Security Arrangement

These security measures have been taken following recent advances by the Houthis along the Red Sea coast and the increasing military threats from this group. Turkish officials have emphasized that the deployment of troops to Saudi Arabia will have a purely defensive purpose, and the country aims to establish a command base to provide support to Saudi Arabia.

After the official authorization is approved by the Turkish parliament, which is expected to take place later this month, a number of Turkish special forces may be sent to Saudi Arabia. News sources have also reported that the Turkish army may send experienced pilots and aircraft to counter the Houthi threats in the country.

Challenges in Yemen

The recent victories of the Houthis, particularly the advance on September 10, indicate significant changes in the balance of power in Yemen. This irregular militia has become an equipped and organized force, posing a major challenge to the Yemeni government and its Saudi supporters.

The Yemeni government is facing division and weakness among its leaders, allowing the Houthis to take full advantage of the pause in conflicts. Additionally, the Houthis have made advancements in developing their military capabilities during the war, which has increased the power of this group.

In this context, General Saleh, one of the key commanders of the Yemeni government, has faced serious difficulties in trying to garner support from Saudi and American officials. Currently, his focus is on reorganizing forces and treating the wounded, and the return of war for Yemeni civilians struggling with poverty and hunger promises deeper suffering.

In light of these developments, Turkey is striving to play a significant role in regional security in the Gulf and in support of Saudi Arabia. These actions could have significant impacts on the balance of power in the region.
