Iran continues its negotiations with Qatari mediators and emphasizes that the final agreement for reopening the Strait of Hormuz depends on the response from the United States. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the Iranian Foreign Minister, stated in his recent remarks that the recent visit of the Iranian delegation to Doha was aimed at advancing these negotiations.

Emphasis on the Dependency of Negotiations on US Response

Araghchi stated in an interview with news agencies that no final result has been achieved so far and Tehran is waiting for a response from Washington to its questions. He added: "Consultations are ongoing, but we have not yet reached a definitive conclusion because this outcome depends on the responses from the other side." These remarks reflect the complexity and sensitivity of the negotiations currently taking shape.

History and Dimensions of the Negotiations

The Iranian Foreign Minister, in another interview, referred to the details of secret diplomatic negotiations and described the recent contacts from the United States as a positive step. However, he clarified that Iran currently does not see a need for direct contact with Washington. Araghchi also emphasized that Tehran has reduced its initial seven-day plan for reopening the Strait of Hormuz to two days, provided that its fundamental conditions are practically met.

Qatar continues to act as an active mediator in the negotiations between Iran and the United States, striving to resolve differences by facilitating the exchange of messages and creating common grounds to prevent escalation of regional tensions. This diplomacy in Doha takes place as time is rapidly passing, with only a few days left until the expiration of US military exemptions.

Challenges and Potential Threats

Despite mediation efforts, Araghchi warned that Iran is fully prepared to respond severely in case the negotiations collapse. He stated that the Iranian armed forces are stronger than ever and ready for any scenario. According to him, the Islamic Republic of Iran is simultaneously prepared for defense and diplomacy, and the choice of the appropriate path depends on the rationality of the Americans.

In this context, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Washington is "in no hurry" to make a decision regarding Iran, while this comes amid reports of his conversation with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel. While the White House is considering military options and the possibility of renewed attacks amid the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza, Trump's remarks indicate a lack of urgency in the negotiation process.

Overall, the current diplomatic situation in Doha and Iran's willingness to continue negotiations, while reflecting a desire to peacefully resolve disputes, also carries potential risks and challenges that could impact regional stability.
