Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, will travel to India from October 17 to 22. This trip will include meetings with senior Indian government officials in the cities of Mumbai and Jamnagar, aimed at strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership and exploring energy cooperation.

Details of the Trip to India and Uzbekistan

This trip to India and Uzbekistan, as part of U.S. diplomatic planning, will take place from October 17 to 22. Rubio will travel to Mumbai and Jamnagar in India following the C5+1 ministerial meeting in Uzbekistan. This trip marks his second official visit to India this year. During this visit, he will meet with senior Indian officials to discuss strengthening the U.S.-India strategic partnership, exchange views on regional and global dynamics, and explore prospects for energy cooperation.

Strengthening Economic and Trade Cooperation

The U.S. Secretary of State will also meet with business leaders to promote trade investment opportunities and economic cooperation between the two countries. This trip comes as the U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, emphasized the need for increased cooperation between New Delhi and Washington in the areas of defense, information technology, and health. Gore described India as an important partner for the United States at an event in Kolkata and highlighted the role of Kolkata in Washington's interactions with India.

In the area of defense, Gore referred to recent military exercises between Indian and American forces and announced the presence of F-35 fighter jets in Rajasthan for the first time. He also mentioned the expanding cooperation in information technology, stating that businesses from both countries are making reciprocal investments and establishing production centers in each other.

In health, Gore pointed to the significant import of generic drugs from India, stating that this reflects the United States' trust in India's pharmaceutical industry. He also referenced the recent meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump and expressed hope for a transformation in bilateral relations.

Rubio's trip to India follows his previous visit to the country from May 23 to 26 and demonstrates the United States' commitment to strengthening relations with India and finding new areas of cooperation across various fields.
