Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, warned on Tuesday that if Iran's security is not ensured, oil infrastructure in the region will be targeted. These remarks were made amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States and reflect Tehran's concerns regarding economic sanctions and military threats from Washington.

Warning to the United States and Regional Countries

Qalibaf stated in parliament: "To every country in the region, we must convey this message: as we have said before, if we are deprived of selling oil, no country in this region will be able to sell oil." These remarks demonstrate Iran's determination to use its influence in the global oil market as a tool to increase pressure on the United States and its allies.

He also emphasized that if Iran's security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure in the region will be safe. This threat is particularly significant given the heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf. Qalibaf referred to Trump's claim of U.S. control over the Strait of Hormuz and called it "baseless."

Response to Trump's Threats

In response to recent threats from Donald Trump, the President of the United States, who mentioned the "destruction" of Iran in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Qalibaf stated that his country is not seeking war, but is nonetheless prepared to defend itself. He added: "We are never seeking war, but if we are threatened, we will defend ourselves." These remarks reflect Iran's dual approach to foreign threats: on one hand, a willingness to resolve issues peacefully, and on the other, a firmness in defending national interests.

These warnings and statements clearly indicate the escalating tensions in Iran-U.S. relations. While Iran seeks to protect its interests against international pressures, the United States is also attempting to limit Tehran's influence in the region through economic sanctions and military threats. The current conditions in the Persian Gulf, as one of the sensitive points in international relations, are heavily influenced by these tensions and pose an uncertain future for regional stability.
