On the first day of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, Qatar called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the resumption of negotiations. The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, warned global leaders in his speech that the Gulf crisis negatively impacts the global economy and affects the lives of people who have no connection to these wars. He stated: "This crisis increases the prices of food and medicine and harms the livelihoods of people who have no connection to these issues."

Emphasis on Diplomacy and Regional Security

Sheikh Tamim, referring to recent developments that he said "could have been prevented," emphasized that diplomacy can bring security to the entire region, including Iran. He also addressed the issue of Palestine, stating: "There will be no just international order while Palestine remains its blind spot." He described the situation in Gaza as "genocide in every sense of the word."

Call to Action Against Israel

The Emir of Qatar called on Israel to fully implement the ceasefire agreement, withdraw from Gaza, end the blockade, and allow aid to enter unconditionally. He said: "Either the law is applied equally to everyone, or it loses its meaning when applied against the weak while the powerful are exempt."

At this assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump defended Washington's war against Iran and offered Tehran a proposal to reach an agreement and avoid further destruction. He claimed that U.S. military operations have destroyed Iran's nuclear program and navy, while predicting that an agreement would be reached after the U.S. midterm elections.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva delivered a contradictory message, warning that the Strait of Hormuz could become a battlefield while it should remain a vital route for international trade. He said: "There will be no winner in the battlefield. Diplomacy is the only option."

On this day, the topics of Gaza, Gulf security, and the credibility of international law were at the center of discussions, showcasing intense disagreements over whether diplomacy or military pressure could end regional wars.
