Turkey's Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, will host the foreign ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany in Istanbul on October 22, 2023. This meeting is being held to discuss regional and security conflicts at a time when tensions in Iran, Yemen, and Ukraine pose threats to maritime routes and regional security.

Historic Meeting with Seven Countries

This meeting is considered the first gathering of the foreign ministers of these seven countries in this format and at Turkey's initiative. The aim of this gathering is to strengthen cooperation and address regional security challenges. The foreign ministers are expected to discuss important issues including the situation of Israel and Palestine, recent developments in the Strait of Hormuz, issues related to Yemen, and efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

Emphasis on Regional Security

Turkey's Foreign Minister will also emphasize his country's efforts to prevent the escalation of the war in Ukraine into the Black Sea and will highlight the security risks arising from this conflict. This meeting provides an opportunity for the foreign ministers of the participating countries to exchange views on common challenges and ways to foster closer cooperation.

This gathering is taking place amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, particularly in Yemen and Ukraine, as various countries in the region seek ways to enhance security and stability in these areas. By hosting this meeting, Turkey reinforces its role as a key player in regional and global diplomacy and aims to create a space for dialogue and cooperation among countries in the region and Europe.
