Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna, addressed the current state of tensions between the United States and Iran at a press conference on Monday. He clearly pointed out that the main problem in this area stems from Washington's unwillingness to adopt a diplomatic approach.
Diplomatic Obstacles in Iran-U.S. Relations
Ulyanov noted the United States' reluctance to engage in constructive negotiations, stating that the country is seeking military solutions and economic pressures instead of striving for a diplomatic resolution. He said, "Today, the United States is not ready to reach a diplomatic agreement with Iran, and this issue could have serious consequences for regional and global security."

Consequences of Continued Tensions
The continuation of tensions between the United States and Iran could lead to increased instability in the Middle East. Ulyanov reminded that any miscalculation could result in a serious and even military crisis. He emphasized that diplomacy, as the only sustainable solution to the existing problems in this area, must be prioritized.
In this regard, the Russian representative referred to his country's efforts for mediation and creating a space for dialogue. He stressed that to reduce tensions and build trust, a clear and specific roadmap is needed that includes all parties involved.
The Need to Reassess U.S. Policies
Ulyanov also pointed out the necessity of reassessing U.S. policies, stating that if the country seeks real security and stability in the Middle East, it must turn to diplomacy and dialogue. He expressed hope that other countries would also take action in this direction and help create a safe environment for negotiations.
Finally, Mikhail Ulyanov emphasized that any effort to peacefully resolve issues must be taken seriously and examined from various angles; otherwise, the region will face greater challenges.
